These terms govern your use of Hero. By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to them. Please read them carefully.
1. Who we are
Hero is a volunteering platform operated by KNECCT Ltd, trading as Hero (“Hero”, “we”, “us”). We connect individual volunteers with charities, businesses and universities to coordinate real-world volunteering and measure its impact. You can reach us at support@herovolunteer.com.
2. Eligibility
Hero is intended for people aged 18 and over. By registering as a volunteer you confirm that you are at least 18. Charity, business and university accounts must be created by someone authorised to act on behalf of that organisation.
3. Your account
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your login credentials secure. You must notify us promptly of any unauthorised use of your account. You may not share your account or create an account using another person’s identity.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Hero to:
- post false, misleading, unlawful, or harmful content;
- harass, abuse, or endanger any volunteer, organisation, or member of the public;
- misrepresent an organisation’s charitable status or a volunteering opportunity;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the platform or other users’ data; or
- use the platform for any purpose other than genuine volunteering coordination.
5. Volunteering opportunities and verification
Charities and organisations are responsible for the opportunities they post, including their accuracy, safety, and any safeguarding or insurance obligations. Hero performs verification checks on organisations but does not guarantee the conduct of any organisation or volunteer. Volunteering is undertaken at your own discretion and risk.
6. Content and intellectual property
You retain ownership of the content you submit, and you grant Hero a licence to host and display it as needed to operate the platform. The Hero name, brand, and software are owned by Hero and may not be copied or reused without permission.
7. Rewards, points and competitions
Hero may offer points, badges, rewards, and competitions. These have no cash value, may change or be withdrawn at any time, and are subject to any specific rules published alongside them. Fraudulent activity may result in forfeiture of points and account suspension.
8. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms or our community guidelines, or where required to protect users. You may close your account at any time. Some data may be retained as described in our Privacy Policy and as required by law.
9. Disclaimers and liability
Hero is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for the acts of volunteers or organisations. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Where changes are material we will take reasonable steps to notify you. Continued use of Hero after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
